The lady recognised her from the poster that I put up last night and rang first thing in the morning to let us know. She is now re-untied with her sister and is very happy to see us all. |

How Found: On Monday 17/12/07 we decided to do a letter box drop in our street and surrounding streets (about 50 flyers in all) and laminated three posters and place these at either end of our street on light poles. Many dogs walk our street, since at the top is a laneway leading to a park. Last night (Tues 18/12/07) around 5pm we answered a call on our mobile, from a man who was standing in his kitchen reading his mail (including our flyer from the previous day, which was delivered late). He said he was looking out his window, which overlooks a neighbouring property, and saw a cat that resembled Smokey (but with no red collar). The cat had moved, but he was uncertain as to its state of health. 1.5 hrs later, with the help of neighbours seeking out appropriate ladders, Smokey was in a cat carrier and heading for home. Other than lighter for her experiences, she was quite talkative and extremely hungry when we brought her home. She was very affectionate last night, purring and enjoying the comforts of home. This morning, it was breakfast as usual with her 3 buddies (cats). We are still amazed how well she faired, especially considering her age (around 15), and the fact that the weather has been quite cold and significant amounts of rain. We continue to believe she was chased by a dog, and then became lost.
So, as others say on this site, don't give up hope. Cats are fairly resourceful, and her 'roof sanctuary' had some overhangs under which we expect she sheltered. |

|
Date Lost: 13/12/2007 |
Name: Solly
Age of Pet : 1
Gender: Male
Breed: Burmese
Colour: Brown
Collar: Purple leather collar with blue jewel studs
Size: Small
Microchipped: No
Desexed: Yes
Description: Solly is a small (not boxy) brown Burmese boy who just turned 1. He was last seen Wednesday night about 7pm in Beach Street at Lake Tabourie on the south coast of nsw. He has 3 white hairs between his shoulder blades and likes to gently bite when he is playing. He disappeared during a storm and as we live near national park, we are afraid he is wondering around disorientated in the bush. Our area is big for holiday rentals also, so if he has been stolen, he could turn up anywhere in Sydney or Canberra. Please look out if you are local and go bush walking, or if you live in a city, keep us in mind as he could have been taken but escaped. |

How Found: We had posted a couple of notices up the day after we lost Sol, and received a call on Saturday morning saying he had been seen on Thursday in the National Park about 2kms from our house. We printed out 40 colour 'Lost Cat' posters and laminated a couple (in case it rained) for the entry points to the park. We headed off to the residential area near the reserve with our posters, speaking to everyone we saw and giving them a postern whilst continually calling Solly's name. We had our two Jack Russels with us and we headed down an embankment which is beside the lake inlet to check out a mandmade bridge someone had rigged up. As we came up, the dogs went ahead of us, and trotting down the footpath towards us all was Soloman. He rubbed his head on Chops (our dog) who rolled on her back to greet him. We almost cried to see him, unharmed, but skinny and sorry for himself. There are a lot of dogs in our area, and I think he was too scared of them barking at him to find his way home by himself as he was gripping onto my partner for dear life as we were walking him home. My advice if you are looking for your pet is; Be proactive as soon as you realise he is lost, if you havent found him on the road, chances are he is alive and closer than you think. Get the neighbourhood involved looking in their backyard, sheds, and garages, and don't give up on finding him. You will feel a lot more positive if you are proactive. |
